Each represents the polar end of a binary, Castillo, who represents the вЂњprosвЂќ authoritarianism brings on a structural level, and on the other end Dani, who will (likely) come to embody the вЂњconsвЂќ of a revolutionary upheaval. With Dani being as fleshed out as she appears to be, the story is sure to have more soul and richness to it.

It would have been criminal to have such great talent pitted against yet another blank slate protagonist the series is infamous for. Giancarlo EspositoвЂ™s Anton Castillo already had the internet in an uproar when Far Cry 6 was first announced. The best part about having a compelling main protagonist, is that you now have someone for the main antagonist to bounce off of. ItвЂ™s a simple detail, but it changes a lot as the themes of revolt and revolution supplant the seriesвЂ™ traditional one of survival which gives the story a new, compelling element. The main character of Far Cry 6 will be a native resident of the island nation Yara, which is where the story takes place. On top of that, Dani Rojas backstory isnвЂ™t nearly as superficial as being a tourist who took a wrong turn. Already, players are given more agency than prior games (with the exception of Far Cry 5 which also gave players this option), serving to strengthen the storytelling of the new game. One of the things that makes this character special is that players can choose whether or not Dani will be male or female. ThatвЂ™s why the new main character, Dani Rojas, is revolutionary in more ways than one. ThereвЂ™s a reason why this perceived disparity exists, and itвЂ™s thought that for all the work that is put into the gameplay of a Far Cry game, вЂњ a lot of room is left for the narrative and the characters to shineвЂќ (Game Rant, 2021). For one, the game had a breakout star in the villain, Vaas, who by and large was more intriguing than Brody as you got to know why he is the way he is. On the other hand, Far Cry 3 wasnвЂ™t terrible either. For the main character of the game, one would expect something deeper in the way of a story. It isnвЂ™t the worst backstory, but it certainly isnвЂ™t the best either. In that game, his entire reason for being on Rook Island is because his vacation took a wrong turn.

Right now, you might be wondering why this decision is so important for the Far Cry series. In addition to some new mechanics and acting talent Giancarlo Esposito of Breaking Bad fame, the game will be giving its new lead, Dani Rojas, an in-depth backstory. As a way of spicing things up, appears to be adopting a new tactic to make the game more compelling. Where some might see that as a flaw, the Far Cry games have always proven fun and engaging. In a sense itвЂ™s like Grand Theft Auto, you can find the perfect weapon, steal a car, and go on your merry way causing mischief and mayhem. Buckle up.Far Cry is one of those games where you donвЂ™t need to necessarily focus on the story in order to enjoy it. I get the feeling this holiday season will be super, super busy and filled with exciting releases. October 7th is still a long ways off but IвЂ™m looking forward to this one and hopefully IвЂ™ll get a chance to preview the game before then and report back. Far Cry, like so many other video games, is much more fun with a friend. Speaking of co-op, IвЂ™m very glad itвЂ™s included again. Maybe in two-player co-op youвЂ™ll each pick a different sibling? That gave you a little more motivation than just. One of the things that made Far Cry 3 so interesting was the fact that you had friends trapped on the island that you had to help rescue. Having a real protagonist to play as-instead of a voiceless cypher-is going to really help, I think, and itвЂ™s possible that the character your donвЂ™t pick-the male Dani or the female-will still figure into the story. IвЂ™m definitely looking forward to exploring Yara, taking on the role of guerrilla fighter and taking down the regime. Far Cry 5 took place in my home state of Montana which was cool, even if ultimately that game was kind of disappointing. IвЂ™ll be perfectly honest, IвЂ™m always excited for a new Far Cry game even when theyвЂ™re pretty formulaic.
